The Future Sets Sail: Partner Greenroom Robotics Redefines Maritime Autonomy in Landmark Collaboration
The team at the Oracle Program are excited to announce that partner Greenroom Robotics is redefining maritime autonomy (again) in a groundbreaking collaboration with Austal Australia for the highly anticipated Patrol Boat Autonomy Trial (PBAT). This game-changing partnership aims to showcase the cutting-edge capabilities of Greenroom Robotics’ advanced maritime autonomy technology while driving innovation and progress in the maritime industry.
Through the integration of Greenroom Robotics’ state-of-the-art GAMA (Greenroom Advanced Maritime Autonomy) software package, Sentinel, a retired Armidale-class Patrol Boat, will be transformed into a highly autonomous vessel. With GAMA’s advanced features, such as autonomous navigation, remote pilotage and control, and robust mission planning capabilities, Sentinel will provide an immersive demonstration of the possibilities within autonomous maritime operations.
Harry Hubbert, the Chief Technology Officer of Greenroom Robotics, emphasised the pioneering nature of GAMA and the compelling benefits it offers: innovation, adaptability, and efficiency in the maritime domain. Austal, Australia’s renowned shipbuilding expertise further strengthens this partnership, highlighting their shared commitment to advancing maritime technology and driving progress in the industry.
The PBAT project, a collaborative initiative involving Austal, Trusted Autonomous Systems, and the Royal Australian Navy’s Warfare Innovation Navy (WIN) Branch, aims to explore the integration of robotic, automated, and autonomous features into patrol boats. It serves as a prototype to showcase the potential for optionally manned or fully autonomous operations within the Royal Australian Navy, while also addressing the legal and regulatory aspects necessary for autonomous vessel operations.
As Oracle Program, we are proud to support this remarkable endeavour and are excited to witness the transformative impact it will have on naval autonomy. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to driving innovation, pushing boundaries, and shaping the future of autonomous technologies in the maritime sector.
